The CTBC was part of the Turkish Cuisine Week Dinner in Yaoundé

May 30, 2023

Last week, upon the invitation of the Turkish Ambassador to Cameroon, we had the immense honour of taking part in the extremely immaculate Turkish Cuisine Week Dinner in Yaoundé.

The star-studded dinner hosted over 200 people including Turkish citizens and business leaders who have invested heavily in Cameroon in Education, Infrastructure, Construction, Hospitality, Retail, important Government Officials like former Prime Minister, several Cameroonian Ministers, other Diplomatic Missions, Academicians and Representatives of the Embassy's Affiliated Organizations.

As was central to the event, the food served was made by Chef Nestor EDIMO who has been with the Turkish Embassy for 13 years and cooks at the Residence of the Ambassador. These meals were prepared at the Ambassador’s Residence and at the very famous Istanbul Restaurant in Yaoundé which is also strategically located close to the event venue - SUITA hotel.

A HATAY menu was served in honor of the 11 states that were heavily affected by the earthquake that hit Türkiye in February of 2023.

This Turkish Cuisine Week is an initiative of the First Lady Mrs. Ermıne ERDOĞAN. It’s a special time of appreciating the diversity of Turkish culture which is elaborately displaced in the fusion of spices and recipes. It’s worthy of note that Türkiye, for thousands of years, has served as the cultural “bridge” and melting pot of the European and Asian continents as Istanbul for example straddles both the European and Asian continents.

The guests got a chance to sample Turkish cuisine with a majority of the ingredients flown in from Türkiye in a plated dinner where waitresses and waiters moved around serving an entree, a main course and dessert with drinks.
