November 7, 2023

Within the scope of Türkiye's opening to Africa, DEIK continues its activities with the motto 'Our business is commercial diplomacy'. Ahmet Demirtaş, Chairman of DEIK Türkiye-Cameroon Business Council and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Kentyapı, who met with Cameroonian officials at the Cameroon Türkiye Business Council, made various evaluations.

Stating that the Republic of Cameroon is located on the west coast of the African continent, with a population of 30 million, and serves as a port gate to Chad and Central African countries, Demirtaş said that Cameroon, which has a market share that can appeal to a population of 55 million, is at the forefront of Africa among the countries that can be traded, as it has the right to duty-free trade with CEMAC member countries in the region and the CFA currency is far from excessive fluctuations. Demirtaş noted that the ports of Douala, Kribi and Limbe are among the factors that bring the country to the forefront in terms of logistics.

Stating that agriculture, food, animal husbandry, forest products, construction materials, contracting, automotive spare parts, schools and health services are areas where investments can be made, Demirtaş added that as a result of the cooperation of chambers of industry and organized industrial zones, organized industrial zones with incentives can be established here.

Stating that China, India and western countries will soon start to establish their production facilities in Africa, Demirtaş also emphasized the importance of setting country and sector-based targets and starting operations and not being late in this regard.

Reminding that our Embassy and Commercial Counsellor are devoted to all kinds of assistance to Turkish business people, Demirtaş stated that as DEİK, they are always open to information sharing.

Finally, Ahmet Demirtaş emphasized the importance of the Promos fair, which will be held in 2024.
