Cameroon - Türkiye Economic Cooperation on the move
CTBC EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR ETONDE MARTIN-NDOPING HEADS CAMEROONIAN BUSINESS DELEGATION TO TÜRKİYE
Limbe-born Executive Director of the Cameroon Türkiye Business Council, CTBC, Mrs. Etonde Martin-Ndoping led eight Cameroonian entrepreneurs to Türkiye from May 30th to June 6th 2022.
The goal of the CTBC Business Trip was to meet Turkish entrepreneurs from various sectors such as agriculture, automobile, marketing and communication, building and construction, interior design, real estate, and the hospitality sector.
The 8 entrepreneurs who are members of the CTBC kicked off Day One with b2b meetings. They met with manufacturers of various types of hospitality products(hotels and restaurants) linen (pillows, mattresses, quilts, bedsheets, table cloths, bath robes, room slippers just to name a few). The delegation later visited Bursa - the City of Textile, where most textile manufacturers are based.
Another visit for some entrepreneurs was made to Ankara, where these members found aluminium and paint manufacturers to partner with and strike good deals with. Some headed to the industrial city of Izmir, which is popular for all the major industries specialized in mass production.
Paramount on this trip was the visit to DEIK. The President of the DEIK Türkiye Cameroon Business Council – Mr. Ahmet Demirtas presided over a meeting that pulled together a 32 man delegation of Turkish business leaders in the home furniture, outdoor marketing, healthcare, shoes, textile, carpets, hotel and office furniture, hotel equipment, kitchenware, food production and processing sectors.
Cameroon's Ambassador to Türkiye H.E. Victor Tchatchouo was the co-host of this meeting and he among other things shared Cameroon's plans for industrialisation and echoed his availability and readiness to guide and assist any Turkish businesses looking to set up subsidiaries in Cameroon in the sectors of manufacturing, construction, food transformation and processing, real estate, hotel and tourism, as well as technology transfer. A dinner was later offered by His Excellency the Ambassador to have one on one discussions with each member of the delegation from Cameroon to understand their business needs
The CTBC delegation also visited the Turkish Maarif Foundation headquarters in Istanbul. Maarif, has over 100 schools in over 20 countries worldwide with 4 campuses in Cameroon alone: Douala, Yaounde and Ngoundere.
"Both the Cameroon Türkiye Business Council and the DEIK Turkiye Cameroon Business Council are poised to guide any businesses who are looking to move across borders. Our goal is to see trade volumes increase between Cameroon and Turkiye," Mrs. Etonde Martin-Ndoping told Invest in Limbe during a working visit to prepare for the next CTBC Businesd trip to Istanbul.
The CTBC Business Trip to Türkiye followed a series of business cafés in Douala to educate the business community of opportunities in Turkiye and to boost CTBC membership. The trip was thus an initiative by the CTBC to create value for its members by giving them a chance meet Turkish entrepreneurs who could in turn be good partners as suppliers or clients.
The business trip also creates opportunities for Cameroonian entrepreneurs to source the best and most cost effective equipment and machinery for transformation and hospitality businesses. The trip also creates opportunities for entrepreneurs interested in representing Turkish businesses in Cameroon to commence such discussions and to connect Cameroon business people with reliable Turkish partners. Above all, the CTBC business trip is an opportunity for Cameroonian entrepreneurs to discover Türkiye.
