His titles have changed so much over the years so we will stick with Mr. Ekoko Mukete for the purpose of this article.
Born on the 24th of October 1965, he was born to: Victor Esemingsongo Mukete and Hannah Ntoh Makia Mukete.
The young Ekoko loved swimming, tennis and football. As he grew up into a young adult he developed a passion for hunting and fishing. Skills which fetched him opportunities to put to practice all he learnt as he fished and hunted. These are sports/hobbies that require patience, timing, decisiveness and concentration.
It is no wonder Ekoko was appointed the Board Chairman for United Bank for Africa – Cameroon. Shortly after his term ended here, he was quickly re-appointed to hold the same position in the United Bank for Africa – Congo. A position he took on March 29, 2023.
His brain is constantly being picked as you see him holding the Non-Executive Director position of Camalco Cameroon S.A, a subsidiary of Canyon Resources Ltd, a mining company with headquarters in Australia well ahead of its time.
As an avid traveler with a very unique business acumen and can-do belief system he naturally served on the Board of the Cameroon Investment Promotion Agency and the Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Crafts as the First Vice President.

In March 2021, Chief Victor Esemingsongo Mukete, Nfon of Kumba and Paramount Ruler of the Bafaw, handed over to Mr. Ekoko Mukete, changing his title from “Mister” to “Nfon” Ekoko Mukete IV.
Nfon Ekoko Mukete veers between ruling His People, advising Globleq Cameroon (Dibamba Power Company and Kribi Power Company) and Gaz du Cameroun as Senior Adviser and Public Relations Adviser respectively and almost a dozen other companies across the country. When he sees a problem, he provides a solution, this could be why he became the Non-Executive Director of the African Atlantic International Maritime Ltd to ensure smooth transportation of goods via sea freight and Executive Chairman of Universal Logistics to handle land transportation services within Cameroon and into the hinterlands.
To he who is faithful with what he has, more will be bestowed on him, Nfon Ekoko Mukete IV was identified on the evening of Friday March 31, 2023 by the President of the Republic of Cameroon to become one of the Senators of the South West Region.
Since his ascent to the throne in Kumba and by extension the Bafaws, he has carried out development projects in a modern way. First off, refurbishing the Palace and expanding it to allow for spaces to host events and receive large crowds for meetings especially.
The future of this great nation lies in the optimism and vivacity of our youth. Empowering them to create jobs and wealth from what they are surrounded by is one thing he emphasizes on. Teaching them how to transform small poultry farms into industrial farms serving not only Kumba but the cities around are projects he deployed.
Cameroon honey is also famed for being rich in nutrients. Youth in this area have benefited from lessons on scaling bee farms, marketing and packaging for high returns.
All these have been possible as a result of his vast travel, listening skills he’s learnt over the years, extensive experience that cut across various sectors: Finance, Media, Culture, Politics, Diplomacy, Oil & Gas, Economics, Investments and Technology.
